A homeopath can be consulted for two types of approach
Acute consultations :
Those appointments are for condition which have just arisen and specific symptoms will be discussed. Such a consultation takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. If the condition is more severe than previously anticipated, a more thorough consultation will be needed.
Full consultations :
Those consultations apply when the patient wants a more chronic condition to be cared for. Those conditions can be physical or emotional ones.
As homeopathy is a holistic medicine, the practitioner will need to have a good understanding of her/his patient on a physical and emotional level. Therefore a first consultation will be an in-depth conversation to try and determine what the concern of the patient is and where it can come from. A bit like assembling a jigsaw puzzle.
This thorough approach will enable the homeopath to select the best appropriate remedy/remedies.
A first consultation can take up to an hour and a half for an adult.
After that first consultation, the patient will be offered follow-ups. The follow-ups are usually shorter. They allow the homeopath to evaluate the changes and results of the previous prescription and then decide on the next course of treatment. Follow ups occurs in general every 4 to 5 weeks but the practitioner might feel the need to allow more or less time between the appointment, depending on the situation.
